| Bad President - Bad Regime = Nothing Works |
|
The General Lansana Conté is the worst thing that has happened to Guinea since the slave trade. For the last decade and a half at least
(let us give them the benefit of the doubt for before that) everyday that the guineans live is worse than the day before.
Little by little electricity has made itself rare so that today, in 2007, there are parts of the city of Conakry - the capital -
that haven't had any electricity for months. Conakry is without a doubt the darkest "big" city in the World. Hey! Look at that.
We are number one at something. The government works very hard so that Guinea can hold that place in that area. Unfortunately the
scenario is the same in area of drinking water. How can one live without water?
These 2 phonomena are in direct correlation with the lousy administration of our natural resources, which is the culture and religion
of the government of Conté.

| Bad President - Bad Regime = Corruption |
|
In 2006, studies showed that the Republic of Guinea is the fourth most corrupted country in the World
(click here). Number One in Africa (Yet again, we're good at
something. They joy is overwhelming!) Among the countries that scored better at being corrupted, only one isn't at war. Again, only our
government is to thank for such an accomplishment, Conté's government. He appoints and destitutes government officials just as he was
in his home, in his family.
Every police officer in the streets, without exception, is only there to rip people off just so he can get enough to feed his families.
They pull vehicles over, very often for good reasons, but always end up taking a small bribe and let the perpetrator go.

| Bad President - Bad Regime = Anarchy |
|
The reality is that no one respects the law in Guinea. Take the President Conté for instance: he always "takes" (for lack of a
better word to describe "stealing") of the nation without questions asked for personal affairs, and last December, he decided on his
own to mess everything up by liberating criminals who had been judged, foud guilty of many crimes, and locked up by the high courts.
he allegedly declared himself as being the "justice" and the "law" in Guinea.
All law enforcement institutions are extremely corrupted, so all one needs to have to get out of trouble with the law is some money.
Everyone does exactly what he or she wants, the only thing that limits your capabilities is your finances. Unfortunately, over 80% of
the population lives way under poverty level.
